The common cockroach found in Ireland is the German cockroach. It is brown with 2 dark bands on the thorax. They grow to approximately 10-15mm in size. Females produce 1 egg every 3-4 weeks. Each egg contains 24-45 eggs. The adult can live up to 1 year.
Cockroaches are predominantly nocturnal. As they roam through sewage, urinals, waste they pose a health risk and harbour diseases such as salmonella and diarrhea.
